This list will help you to clean your home in the days before Christmas or on Christmas Eve. Follow these steps to create a welcoming, gleaming home that will not only make you proud but also impress your guests.

What you’ll need

Make sure to have these supplies ready before you start cleaning:

    1. Sponges and cloths: These are the tools you’ll use to clean, scrub and dust different surfaces. Microfiber cloths will leave a streak-free, lint free finish. Avoid cross-contamination by using different labels or colors in each room.
    2. Vacuum Cleaner: A with attachments can be used to clean carpets, rugs and upholstery. Select a vacuum cleaner with a HEPA filtration system to capture dust mites and allergens.
    3. Mop bucket: Fill a mop bucket with hot soapy water to clean hard floors such as wood, tile or laminate. Steam mop is another option for a deep clean without using chemicals.
    4. Broom & Dustpan: Useful for cleaning dirt, dust and other debris off of hard surfaces and outdoor areas.
    5. Duster, microfiber cloths and extension poles: Use a duster that has a long handle, or if you have an extension pole, he can dust ceiling fans, wall fixtures, light fixtures and other high surfaces. Microfiber cloths work well for dusting furniture, mirrors and picture frames.
    6. Spray bottles Spray bottles are convenient for cleaning solutions such as vinegar or water. They can also be used to make your own home cleaners. You can use more than one spray bottle to make different cleaning solutions.
    7. Cleaning Products: You will need different cleaning products to suit your needs, such as all-purpose cleaners, wood cleaners, metal cleaners, disinfectants, degreasers, stain removers, mold removers, etc. Choose “green” products that are non-toxic or your own homemade version using natural ingredients. Below are some recipes.
    8. Hand Gloves: Protect your hands against harsh chemicals, dirt and germs with gloves. They can also protect the nails from breaking and wearing. Select disposable or reusable glove that fits well and is comfortable to wear.
    9. Cleaning Rags :These are used to clean surfaces and remove dirt.
    10. Garbage Bags Trash Bags are essential for the collection and disposal of unwanted items, garbage and clutter. Sort your garbage according to local recycling laws using different colors and sizes.
