Adventure doesn’t usually come to mind when discussing wine tasting. Doing it the usual way can become tedious quickly, so how about paddling your kayak up to a vineyard while taking in its breathtaking surroundings? Well on Virginia’s lovely Eastern Shore you can do exactly this!
What exactly is “Paddle Your Glass Off?”
A guided kayak and wine tour organized by Southeast Expeditions in partnership with Chatham Vineyards. You’ll spend an incredible day paddling on Chesapeake Bay before stopping along the way for some award-winning Church Creek Wine at Chatham Vineyards and Winery! Doesn’t that sound incredible?
Starting on the banks of Nassawadox Creek in Bayford, VA and after receiving an introduction to paddling lessons, your tour will journey south towards Church Creek taking in its natural surroundings, viewing Eastern Shore wildlife, and listening to interesting tales about this remote part of Virginia.
As soon as you reach Chatham Vineyards, your kayak will be safely secured on shore and you will head directly to their tasting room for some delectable Church Creek wine and an exclusive tour.
Once the wine tasting is over, take some time to relax at one of the tables overlooking the vineyard while sipping your beverage and sampling local cheese and bread plates – after all that paddling you deserve it! When your beverage is finished you’ll hop back in your kayak and paddle back towards where your journey began.
Tour pricing starts at $89 per paddler and includes guide, boat, gear and the Chatham winery experience – not to mention an added bottle of wine for every two participants! Newcomers to kayaking are welcomed and encouraged.
