You’re likely to be more like me if you have trouble falling asleep and waking up in the morning. Bad sleep habits such as staying up late, not having a regular bedtime or watching TV or scrolling through your phone late at night can be to blame.
You’re on your way to a good night’s rest if you eat well, limit caffeine and alcohol and stay active. When we do not sleep and awaken on a regular schedule, our internal body clocks (also known as the circadian rhythm) can become out of sync and disrupt our sleep. It is this that can leave us feeling sluggish in the morning, and sap our energy throughout the day.
Researchers have found that if you follow a daily routine, such as going to bed and waking up at the same times every day, it’s more likely you will be happy and productive.
It may be time for you to revamp your sleep and waking routine. Or, start one. Have you ever set up a sleep routine from scratch? It’s hard.
I was guilty of poor sleep habits and wanted to try to see if it could help me get my sleep routine and wake up routine back on track.
