Recently, I decided it was time to travel more locally. On my local bucket list, there are some places I must visit. We all have places like that. It’s a place that is incredibly popular and ridiculously close, but you haven’t made it there. Ocean City, Maryland is that place for me. When I read that it was the 5th most popular weekend getaway destination in the U.S. according to KAYAK’s Summer Travel Hacker Guide, I started planning my trip.

After reading the Kayak Ocean City Maryland TravelHacker Guide, I decided to create a summer weekend itinerary for Ocean City, MD. I decided to research Ocean City, and write down my travel goals. KAYAK will arrange them into one itinerary for you – free). Although I’ve never been to OC, I knew exactly what I wanted to do on my first weekend there.
Ocean City, founded in 1875 is known for its beach and 2.5-mile historic boardwalk. Ocean City is one of East Coast’s most popular holiday destinations. It gets up to 8,000,000 visitors per year. This is the perfect place for those who love the ocean.
USA Todayhas consistently listed Ocean City’s boardwalk among the “Top 10 Boardwalks in the US” and it has also been rated by National Geographic as one of “the best boardwalks for eating” Did anyone say awesome food?! I’m so in!
While in Ocean City, I wanted to do some things that were a little out of the norm. Mini golf and waterparks are fun, but they can wait. Ocean City offers a wide range of watersports, from jetskiing and fishing to surfing. On my itinerary for Ocean City, I scheduled a morning class on standing paddle boards (I cannot wait! ).
On Sunday, I took a boat to Assateague Island in order to see the wild horses that live there. These horses are thought to be survivors from a Spanish ship which sank off the coast. It’s something I have always wanted to experience.
Ocean City has a lot of great restaurants. I only chose restaurants with excellent reviews and matching menus. Who can resist hot, fresh Boardwalk fries?
